Threesome | Tree some | tʁisom project

Three people, a motion designer & filmmaker (Rodolphe Jouxtel), a choreographer & dancer (Laura Gary) and a music composer (Eldar Baruch), three professional artistic disciplines, three bodily senses, three interpretations of what dance, sound and video can be, do and how they interact. Three visions of a project built on modularity, interactivity, freedom of choice, solutions.

What is it ?

A confrontation and constant interaction between three distinct art forms: Sound / Video / Movement – or the lack thereof. Our goals are double:

The first is to come up with a full length video, heavily shaped by the needs and rules of the residency and which will allow us to massively experiment on our concept and push us ways forward into its development.

The other, as a second stage, is to create a series of videos destined to be mixed and matched together as the viewer sees fit, hence the modularity. In essence it would require to write the script for a full sequence, break it down into several segments at key points, dependent on movements, places or beats, and then shoot those segment multiple times. Each individual version of which would differ from one another based on a panel of “ingredients”:

  • Choreography
    • Camera movements
      • Music & sound design
    • Rhythm
  • Visual Aesthetic
    • Clothing style

Despite the content fluctuating from one segment to the other, it is primordial that their entry and exit key points serve as “knots”, to allow for seamless transitions between each versions of each segments once the “full length” video is created, further down the line.
